Riordan Manufacturing
Change Management Plan
Through development and adding new facilities to the organization, it has been determined that a new software platform is needed to make the company more competitive. Riordan Manufacturing Company is a multi-billion dollar plastics manufacturer, which makes good use of top-of-the-line technological equipment for its home base in San Juan. However, the multi-billion dollar company has yet to implement a complete enterprise resource planning software platform for many of its locations. Some locations have finance and accounting departments that operate completely independently of the parent company and their data must be re-entered into the main system. Furthermore, it takes a significant amount of effort to reconcile the data between these systems and the data that top executives have access to is not up-to-date at any given time.
Riordan, given its size and market position, desperately needs a platform upgrade in many locations. Running different software systems can creates a vast amount of wastefulness as well as led to many production delays and supply chain inefficiencies. Therefore a project must be initiated to upgrade the existing systems and will include phases such as planning, implementation, training, and closure. Riordan can update these systems one by one using a phased roll-out approach by using an internal project team that is dedicated to the system upgrades. This will represent an important evolution for many employees as they begin using more modern software.
Reducing the amount of time that transactions take will make the company more lean and flexible to respond to changing conditions. Under the new system, user training will help offset any downtime the company may experience but will still cause some business interruptions. However, an integrated enterprise resource planning system will help with time and cost per transaction conducted, allow management access to real time data, as well as increase the overall outcome of productivity. The new system will also create advantages in regards to quality control, production, and the need for compliance with federal regulations.
