Due to the exponential growth of the health care industry, the growing individual knowledge of the health care consumer and also the high level of technological advances made in medicine there is a matching need for highly skilled medical personnel. Those who are in the greatest need are nurses, who are willing to learn and grow with the growing needs of the industry. My fifteen years in the medical industry has helped me determine a great desire to continue my education as a nurse.
I would like to obtain a License to practice as a Registered Nurse and continue to work in the medical industry, far into my future. The growing technological focus of the industry and the growing importance of the role of nursing that I have seen over the years as well as my unflagging desire to continue to help people in need have contributed to my career goals. The need for nurses is great and I would like to be a part of the future of the nursing industry.
Educationally I would like to reach the goal of becoming an RN through an associates degree in Nursing to be followed with additional classes that will lead to a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and further career advancement. Through my experience in many facets of the medical industry, retail, hospital and home care I believe I would bring many assets to the industry and many points-of-view. A strong desire to advance my understanding of the technology of medicine is also a large factor in my decided goals.
A BSN degree would allow me to develop a specialty in nursing, in the future which would assist me in my goals to advance my knowledge of nursing care. I believe that without a college education I would not only be unable to advance my career in the medical industry but I would be unable to meet my full potential as a member of the community I live in.
Additionally, without the benefits of the cutting edge information and technology available within the academic setting there would be little likelihood of gaining a greater level of knowledge in my chosen field. Patient care skill development is crucial to the development of anyone in the medical industry, yet the newest and most up-to-date tools for improving patient care, both intellectual and technically are only available through higher education.
