The Case for open Heart Surgery at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital Through the years, the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital is able to send the cases that would be taken care of with the increased capacity to Duke University Medical Center. However, there have been exceptions made that may have put a financial strain on the hospital for doctors such as Dr. Christy since Dr. Christy had a very outstanding reputation. The hospital is financial shaped for the change that is needed for Dr.

Christy and other members, but the expenditure required to have spaces that complied with the need are relatively large. In other words, the costs of operating this area of the hospital would cost a lot but the increase in the profit would be a great deal in the first three years.

This is due to the fact in the beginning CMH would operate on a relatively small scale, however that would increase as people in the surrounding communities saw that they were able to use CMH even though these costs are mediated by the fact that every stay would average close to $40,000 per patient. This means that with increasing need of 26%, the costs of having the facility would be largely defrayed in the near future.

Therefore, there has to be a common ground for the situation to balance out even though there are alternatives because it would serve the greater good for the community. Compliance with Hospital's Mission The original mission of CMH was to provide care for a specific area in North Carolina that was defined by their original charter and what changes have been made to their original certificate of need since then.

As of right now, the hospital is able to send the cases that would be taken care of with the increased capacity to Duke University Medical Center. Apparently this arrangement has worked in the past and patients have not suffered because of it. However, there is a stated need which could be fulfilled by the hospital and free some beds for Duke. Although this is not in compliance with the original mission of the hospital, that could also be altered to include the new facility.
