Operations: Carroll County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse

The Carroll County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse Center provides the ability for families to find assistance under the appropriate programs and agencies on the county, state, and federal level. It proves families and individuals need and under circumstances of emotional stress and distress to understand what assistance programs are most appropriate for their situation. Thus the council not only gives aid but also provides referral services for families and individuals with special needs as well as crisis childcare.

In terms of its operations structures it acts as a kind of porthole for assistance, fanning individuals out into other, more focused operational structures in the community, across various counties. Its website also provides search engine links on the World Wide Web, so that individuals can access information easily regarding family assistance on the federal level. All of these links and services are helpful in realizing the organization's goal, as no single nonprofit organization can do 'everything' to prevent child abuse or to help families in need. The organization serves Carroll, Greene, Audubon, and Guthrie Counties, and provides provider support groups for families in all of these counties. Also, Hamilton, Webster and Sac counties have access to such umbrella services as Parent Time Out, Happy Bear, Crisis Child Care, and Special Care for Special Kids, Family Enrichment Program, and FaDSS (Family Development and Self-Sufficiency Program).

This widespread structure of organizational operations allows different services to be accessible that uniquely fit the needs of individuals in various situations. Parents with special needs children, families in need of enrichment to facilitate their children's educations, parents in need of placing their children in child care, or parents who need time out from the burdens of child care (frequently parents with many children or younger or single parents) can select organizations that operate under the larger web of the Carroll County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Also it enables the directors to have close contact with a wide range of knowledgeable individuals heading a variety of federal and state organizations.
