The factory of FMC is a large employer in the state of Wyoming and the exact location is in Sweetwater and Uinta counties. The specific location has been for many years a part of the success and growth of the company for many years. In turn the company has a very high commitment to the region and its inhabitants. This is expressed through local purchases in a big way. They also support the company in a big way through support in the form of contributions to United Way and various school systems as also scholarship funds and community organizations. It has been calculated that the contributions of the company to the area has been of a value of more than $100 million a year. (Industry)

The process has been going on for quite a long time as the company began as early as 1946. Their main chemical processed is called Trona and around five million tons of it is produced in a full year. This is a rock that is found in the area and the major constituent of that rock is calcium sodium carbonate and that is a raw material. The main material produced from trona is soda ash and that is a chemical used for the manufacture of many products. The material that is produced is glass, paper, laundry detergents, and other products required by everybody almost every day. At the same time, the company also produces a large quantity of very dangerous chemicals - Hydrogen Cyanide. FMC Green River situated at Green River, WY produces 33, 000,000 lbs of Hydrogen Cyanide a year. (Inorganic Hydrogen Cyanide) at the same time, the company trains its employees excellently and that is probably the reason why the company employees are happy. The company has a team called the "FMC 1" team from the factory which won the National contest for National and International Mine Rescue Contest for 2002. The contest was held at Reno/Sparks Convention Authority and this should be considered an achievement. In second position was the team from Westinghouse Tru-Solutions Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and named as the "Silver Team" from Carlsbad. (Teams from Wyoming, New Mexico Take Top Mine Rescue Honors)

The third position was collected by the "Blue Team" from WIPP. The aim of the competitions for mine rescue in the end decide the knowledge of miners and their competence to really rescue miners when they are in trouble if it happens in real life. The problem given to the miners is to solve a theoretical problem in mine emergency and this may be a fire, explosion or cave in, etc. The evaluation is done by judges based on the adherence by the teams to mine rescue procedures as also their speed in solving the problem that they have been given. There are also other events like a contest for giving first aid as also tests in apparatus and bench performance. (Teams from Wyoming, New Mexico Take Top Mine Rescue Honors) One can see clearly that the employees of this company are well trained and capable of doing their jobs as also related tasks. This is the main reason why the workers are happy and well trained.
