(Teams from Wyoming, New Mexico Take Top Mine Rescue Honors) One can see clearly that the employees of this company are well trained and capable of doing their jobs as also related tasks. This is the main reason why the workers are happy and well trained. In the other plant we have the case of Juanita Enger who had been employed in the factory as a shop technician. The factory is of FMC in Aberdeen and the plant is in the business of producing missile canisters for the federal government as a defense contractor. The person was employed mainly to assemble cables. After an employment of three years, and this was towards the end of 1991 or the beginning of 1992, she began to feel severe pain and this led her to medical treatment. The initial medical diagnosis was that of tendonitis, and also treated as the same. A year later the physicians changed their opinion and she was told that she had bilateral carpal tunnel in both hands as also in her wrists. This required that she go through surgery to relieve the pain that she was feeling. Accordingly there was surgery. According to doctors who treated her, the problems in her hands were caused by the constant and repetitive nature of work that she had to do. The company and its insurers paid for the temporary disability caused to her, but did not give any other benefit saying that the second problem was not due to her work at FMC. (South Dakota Supreme Court: Enger v. FMC, 1997 SD 70)
It is thus clear that the company does not take the troubles to the employees very seriously. Naturally this will also not encourage the workers to work very well. Thus it can be seen that the Wyoming facility probably has better facilities.
