Org Structure
Welcome to Acme Solutions! Ours is a growing company and I am pleased to welcome you to our family. You will find that Acme's simple organizational structure suits your preference for a collaborative work environment. We at Acme believe that even specialists can contribute to overall organizational success in areas beyond their locus of control. Therefore, the span of control in our organization is wide. We like to work together so that all employees see the "big picture" in any given project. As the CEO, I have noticed a great deal of success with this model of organizational structure. Employees like you need know what is going on in other departments, because it minimizes confusion and miscommunication. Therefore, we expect you to be highly communicative on the job. Never feel afraid to ask questions or point out areas of weakness or concern. We at Acme are proud of our low level of formalization in the company. After just two years of working in your current position, you will be able to apply for a telecommuting option.
Here at Acme, our organizational culture is one that yields a high degree of employee satisfaction. I expect you to feel the same way, as many of our employees have been with us for years. We are a people-oriented culture. Also, our organizational culture is not afraid to take risks. You are encouraged to innovate. After all, you would not have wanted to work for Acme if we only made one product and did the same task over and over again. You wanted to work for Acme because you know we will allow your creativity to become an asset in the organization.
The Acme culture is rather strong. This might seem intimidating to you at first. I think you will far more satisfied if you let down your guard and participate in the many company parties and gatherings we have throughout the year. We view these parties as opportunities to improve productivity in the workplace, as well as a way to blow off some steam. When we work with people that we genuinely like spending time with, we are much more likely to look forward to our job, and come into work even when we don't feel like it. To foster a sense of belonging in our family, I have sent you our company T-shirt and hoodie.
Socialization into our organizational culture should be a cinch. We have a diverse group of people in the company, and we value individuality. Although Acme fosters an informal working environment, we do understand the need for entry socialization. This is why our ten-year-old orientation program is still going strong. During orientation, you will meet many of your coworkers. You may find mentors who will help guide you through some of the more challenging aspects of your job. Because of our low departmentalization structure, it is highly likely you will not have just one supervisor but many. We have an "it takes a village" mentality here, meaning that we never expect one person to bear the brunt of any responsibility. Collaboration and cooperation stimulate a diversity of opinion, which in turn creates the innovative culture that we are famous for. Having said that, you will be challenged to reach your highest potential. Our employees at Acme don't slack on the job. It is my belief that working at Acme provides a positive organizational structure.
