Background of facility

Where the good time rolls!" is the slogan that the Orleans Arena uses for welcoming its visitors on a periplus at one of the most modern and fascinating venues in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 52 million dollar U-shaped facility mentioned above opened its gates in 2003 and belongs to the Orleans Hotel and Casino complex, being one of the most important landmarks that the Las Vegans take pride in. The Orleans Arena has an impressive capacity of 9,500 seats and represents a multipurpose venue hosting musical performances and sporting events. However, it is mainly known as Las Vegas Wranglers' home, a minor league ice hockey team that played its first game on the Arena on October 21, 2003, defeating the Bakersfield Condors with the score of 4-2. But the Arena's positive aura doesn't end here. The Stanley Cup (the championship trophy of the national Hockey League) also visited the famous venue on November 25, 2005.

Description of facility

At first sight, the facility's profile seems to be rather sportive. At a closer look, the Orleans Arena appears as an edifice hosting major entertainment and cultural events such as: Disney on Ice, the Harlem Globetrotters and Ringing Bros., Barnum & Balley Circus, top concerts like Brooks & Dunn, Jane's Addiction, Lynryd Skymyrd, motocross, equestrian events, Don King-produced boxing, King of the Cage and so on. The events are big and do not take place every night, but they are very well calibrated according to the time of the year and the visitors' taste for entertainment. For instance, one of the upcoming events in December is the performance of Trans Siberian Orchestra, a rock / metal band renown for its remakes of classical Christmas songs. This is a proof of the management's attempt to prepare the audience for the magic atmosphere of the Winter Holidays. Moreover, both adults and children will be mesmerized by Disney's performance on ice, called "A Disney Adventure," another show aimed to bring the public on the fairy-tales' land. The list of upcoming events also includes the famous American stand-up comedian, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Alison Krauss & Union Station and other captivating performances that will certainly become a memorable experience for the audience.

But the Orleans Arena's magic doesn't consist only of the programs run at the facility. It also consists of its design and unbeatable amenities. When visiting the venue for the first time, the feeling you get reminds you of "Alice's Adventures in the Wonderland." You feel small in a huge space, with a modern design and high-tech equipments, a space combining both luxury and comfort in a mix that invites you to try it all. The Arena has 25 rows of extra-wide padded seats, 22 VIP boxes, 2 Led video screens and a full Led wrap-around video system (the first of this kind in Vegas), a special club area with its own cash bars, food and beverages points of sale, numerous restrooms and free parking. In addition to all these, the Arena's management proved to be very thoughtful by designing special seats, toilets, payphones, parking lots, elevators for disabled people. Another aspect that highly impressed me was the opulence displayed by the VIP and Party Suites through various breathtaking amenities like leather theatre-style seats, Plasma-screen televisions, full-size refrigerators, concierge and first class catering services wearing Coast Casinos' label. Efforts to make the audience enjoy the time spent at the Orleans Arena do not end here because, besides amenities, the facility also boasts an excellent cuisine performed by internationally awarded chefs who give their best to make visitors pamper their palates while savoring the show. The food can be ordered by email or fax and is set 15 minutes before the doors opening or during the event, according to customers' wish.

Analysis of facility and focus area

After visiting the Arena whose characteristics I have tried to summarize up to this point of the essay, my opinion is that the facility perfectly moulds over the customers' needs and financial possibilities. It provides glamour for all those who can afford it, but also a comfortable, entertaining atmosphere for all those Americans that come back home late at night, open the refrigerator and drink the beer for which they work hard all day long. Thus, the Arena may be considered an oasis that people choose when they want to spend some moments "far from the madding crowd" of day-to-day life. In order to achieve this objective, the management uses various stratagems to enhance the programs' attractiveness. For example, the Las Vegas Wranglers organizes the traditional mullet hat night every year and is the only team "to hold a game that is played at midnight" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Vegas_Wranglers).The main reason for the latter concession is the Las Vegans' program which overlaps the game hours. The hockey team is also sensitive to outside reality, a proof of this statement being the orange vests with the inscription "Don't shoot...I'm Human!" that the hockey players wore during a game on March 17, 2006, as an innuendo to Vice President Dick Cheney's haunting accident. The Arena also offers different advantages to loyal customers such as invitations to meet-the-team events, free tickets to pre-season games etc.

What I found very touching was one of the Arena's values stating that it " welcomes all guests, regardless of disability." This assertion emphasizes the company's concern with social involvement as an additional item to the entertainment perspective that the brand image comprises.
