Participation in a Research Study
It is imperative that a subject understands the importance of his or her involvement in any research study. This is fundamental especially in researches that may involve full participation of an individual (which may affect his or her daily activities). As a result, every researcher must ensure that his or her subjects are fully informed about the research and are ready to follow through to the end. Every researcher must have a set strategy, to evaluate how informed his or her subjects are on the research at hand.
Interview: The participant in this case is interviewed on the subject matter at hand to ensure that he or she knows the research in depth. This way the key leaders in the research have an opportunity to evaluate the credibility of the individual to participate throughout the research without fill discretion (Richardson & Godfrey, 2010).
Filling a consent form, this form can be used to know how the participant is informed on the research ahead. The form can be a series of questions, which directly query the participant about his or her credibility towards the same. On the other hand, the form can be used as a point of commitment towards the project by the participant.
Discussion: this can be compared to the interview. However, the discussion is likely to be open and may involve a group of people. In this set up, the lead researcher can present a certain subject or topic and have it discussed in depth by the selected team members (Dobson, 2008). This way the lead researcher stands a high chance of reinforcing his or her will on the participants of the research. In addition, it is advantageous to have such a discussion with the participants as they can also contribute solutions to any expected or future challenges along the way.
Conditions that can stop a research study
The essence of research has always been associated with finding solutions to everyday challenges. However, in many cases, researches have been rendered invalid thus discontinued. Such are the instance that calls for a scrutiny of the main purpose of a study or research. Hence, it is fundamental to highlight and understand the conditions, which are paramount for a valid study.
Most medical researches call for the participation of human subjects. In such instances, the research must ensure the safety of these human subjects. In case the study proves to be harmful and fatal to the subject, then the research should be stopped immediately. This is referred to as scientific validity (Lavery et al., 2009). On the other hand, environmental researches play a leading role in everyday discoveries. Nonetheless, environmentalists may not approve cases that can cause a lethal effect on the environment for instance pollution of natural waters such as rivers.
