Payroll Software

The most important thing a Human Resources department can do, is to ensure that it is aligned with the greater organizational strategy. A solid HR department will know and understand the bigger picture and be able to prescribe actions that match the intentions of those objectives set out by leadership and other powerful sources.

This essay will demonstrate a practical application of HR strategy by describing the selection process of a software program that is intended to manage the organizations wage and salary benefits in-house in attempt to save money by eliminating outsourcing practices. This essay will compare and contrast two different software programs that can be used for this application and provide a selection of one of the two that best meets the organizations needs.

Option 1: Kronos Workforce Ready

According to Clancy (2013) " Workforce software provider Kronos is actively bringing human resources (HR) applications once confined to larger enterprises -- particularly payroll management -- to small and midsize businesses, using the cloud to open up access. Although Kronos doesn't publish its pricing on its Web sites, Stelmasczuk describes the solution as cost-neutral with his company's previous approach, while providing the company with additional functionality, such as the ability to change payroll cycles and make changes more easily than with its prior systems." This endorsement suggests that Kronos has something to offer for the organization.

Kronos can support 100-500 people which fits the organization currently and allows it to significantly grow as well. Not only can Kronos perform payroll activities it has other capabilities such as time & attendance, scheduling, absence management and labor analytics. All these could eventually be incorporated into our system. The system is cloud based and his priced per employee per month, so we wouldn't be wasting resources. The program is easily accessable, well protected and is well thought of by many who have used these services and software.
