Why Peace and Happiness are So Important

Eulogy

Dear friends and family,

Today we gather to remember and honor the life of a beloved brother, who touched so many lives during his time with us. He was seemingly a man of few words, but those words always carried weight and wisdom. He had a great sense of humor, a kind heart, and an unshakeable peace that inspired us all.

We know that his passing was not unexpected, but that does not make it any easier to bear. We take comfort in knowing that he is now free from the pain and suffering that he endured for so long. His strength and resilience throughout his illness were truly remarkable, a testament to his indomitable spirit.

As we look back on his life, we can be struck by the many ways in which he appeared to us—quiet, humble, serene, and happy. We can look back now and see the gifts he had: a keen intelligence and a curiosity about life that gave him insights that most people rarely get to have. He was always learning, always seeking to better understand the world around him.

Most of all, though, we will remember him for the love he gave to those around him. He was a devoted brother, always there to lend a hand or a listening ear. He had a way of making us feel seen and heard, and his quiet presence was a comfort to any who got to spend some time with him.

He was quiet, which might imply that he was a man of few words. But he had words, and he shared them when he felt the time was right. He said what he thought, but he did so in a way that always made you feel that his words were welcomed. Sometimes we see quiet ones as different or as possibly troubled. This characteristic can often be misunderstood, for what our brother showed us is that this kind of quiet peacefulness is really a sign of wisdom and thoughtfulness. People who are quiet tend to listen more than they speak, and this can be a valuable trait in our often noisy and hectic world. He was special in that he possessed a stillness that gave others a sense of calm in just being near him.

But maybe even more important than this was his great sense of humor. This is a wonderful quality to have, as laughter is often a powerful antidote to the stresses of life. He not only gave joy but appreciated it in others. When someone possesses a good sense of humor, they are able to see the world in a different light. They are able to find happiness and delight in the simple things and are able to bring a smile to the faces of those around them. Their ability to find humor in situations that may otherwise be stressful or difficult can be a powerful antidote to the stresses of life. That was our brother.

I will never forget his good sense of humor and I’m sure others here can say the same. It is what helped him really to connect with others on a deeper level. It was a way he had of breaking down barriers and building relationships with ease. He had the universal language of laughter in his heart.
