¶ … People Believe That E-Mail, Voice Mail, Fax The pressures of work till the near past was an issue that came with high pressure jobs and not enough remuneration to offset the feeling of too much work for too little pay and this situation was more found in the sectors of teaching and social services. In today's world this is no longer the case and the pressures of work are spreading to all sectors of employment and especially with the professionals.

The rigors of work call for the professionals to spend more time at office in the present scenario than ever before. The problem escalates as these pressures can no longer be left at the work place and relaxation and stress relieving in the friendly atmosphere of home and the professionals were able to rejuvenate themselves for the next day or next weeks labors ahead.

(Work-Related Stress: What You Need to Know) The pressures of work have increased all the more with mergers and downsizing becoming more and more popular in all segments of industry as they try and cut down on the staff and thereby their wages bill to become more competitive in a global environment. This means there are fewer managers than there were before in many organizations leading to more work and the spill over home for these professionals.

(Can Workplace Stress Get Much Worse?) The spread of work to the home from for the professionals has come from the same devices that were meant to reduce their workload and make them more efficient. These devices include the e-mail, fax, voice mail and the cellular phones. Instead of completing the work and leaving the office environment back at office to go home at the end of the day, these new devices extend the office environment to their homes and assist in transferring the office environment to their homes.

(How to reduce stress at work) These devices only cause the professionals to carry their work with them wherever they are with no respite from it. These devices do provide a way for the organization and its employs to present a more customer friendly face, as the customer do have access to the necessary people at any given day and at ant given time and this may lead to better revenue generation and thereby increased profits when looked at it from that angle.

This is the only plus side and the perspective needs to be widened to understand the true impact on the employees and their level of efficiencies and motivation.

Some of the workers do thrive on stress and the rigors of their work many professionals including those in the field of law, medicine and the military services of old and the software engineers and venture capitalists of today have shown a high tolerance level to work and may be able to go on for days at a stretch on a twenty four hour work schedule. Still the general impression of many is that the strings of the employees are being stretched to far and are likely to snap.

When this happens the costs to the organization in replacing these professionals are so high that whatever benefits that have accrued are wiped out and there are times when replacements for these professional just cannot be found. Can Workplace Stress Get Much Worse?) The next area that the organizations need to be concerned about as they push their employees too far is productivity. Just working round the clock does not make for increased productivity.

Under over worked conditions and where the home requirements are not properly looked after the pressure built up on any employee or professional is bound to have a negative impact on the efficiency levels of the employee. This could lead to the job being done in a poor manner and cost the company again a huge price in productivity and offset the benefits that may come from causing the employees or professionals to work.
