Career development in investor relations and corporate disclosures

Personal Goal Statement

I currently work as an Investor Relations and Disclosures Officer in the Corporate Governance and Disclosures Unit at Ahli United Bank, Kuwait. This bank is a completely developed financial and investment institution that offers retail, offshore and private banking, wealth management, treasury, and corporate services. Investor Relations and Disclosures is a strategic management profession that focuses on integrating security law compliance, communication, finance, and marketing. Professionals in this field help companies to ensure effective communication with the financial community and eventually results in achievement of fair valuation of a firm\'s securities. Investor Relations and Disclosure is sometimes referred to as financial communications or financial public relations because it\'s linked to corporate communications and public relations.

As an Investor Relations and Disclosures Officer, I have different roles and responsibilities at Ahli United Bank. My first task is to manage market expectations regarding the bank\'s performance and the Board of Directors\' expectations about probable achievements in relation to the institution\'s absolute and relative valuation by investors. Secondly, I control the flow of information through managing information gathering and transmission in the firm. Third, I am mandated with the task of creating Investor Relations Strategy based on understanding of the market and existing requirements of the organization. Fourth, I ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and maintain an effective contact management system for communication with key investor audiences. Fifth, I provide input to the Bank\'s annual report and update the website\'s corporate section constantly with up-to-date announcements, disclosures, and Board of Directors\' news. Finally, I have the responsibility of providing proper documents and disclosures to regulatory bodies during annual general meetings.

My career objective is to show my passion and work ethics effectively in order to enhance myself and the working environment. To fulfill this objective, I need to develop several competencies relating to Investor Relations and Disclosures. Given the significance of this field in financial public relations, it\'s important to develop competencies that enable me to enhance my effectiveness in the workplace. One of the competencies I need to develop in relation to this profession is public relations or corporate communications. This is primarily because the profession involves managing different aspects of investor relations and communication. Developing public relations competencies will enable me become more effective in handling various aspects of the profession including overseeing shareholder meetings and private meetings with investors. Through developing this competency, I\'ll enhance my understanding and communication of the financial strategy and initiatives of the company. Secondly, I need to enhance my skills in strategic management because Investor Relations and Disclosure is a strategic management field. Improved skills in strategic management will help me enhance understanding and communication of the company\'s wider strategic direction, especially with regards to financial goals and strategies.
