Personal Ethics

Situation #1

In this situation, which involves a company complaining about another company, the values of honesty and time are reflected. The status indicated, where consideration should be given to the selling company because time is not an important factor in their culture, is quite disappointing and has changed my views.

Based on my point-of-view on ethics, any parties involved in a business transaction must respect the culture of the other party. Not because being on time is not essential to one's culture, would mean that they can continue with the culture they are used to. Being in a business transaction must involve the value of looking after what the other party or the client needs, as well as what can satisfy them. Moreover, in the situation, it is not a justifiable reason to make the other party wait for a machine specifically designed to do the job it called for. When one engages in a business transaction, he must be conscious about the things that need to be done along with the time when they have to deliver the products needed. This is important so that no one between engaging business parties gets aggravated.

Situation #2

Behaving properly in an organization is not a hindrance to success. Should a problem arise within the activities of an organization, there is always a possibility of coming up into a win-win situation. This can be achieved by understanding the opinions and points-of-view of others. For instance, in the situation where a problem arose in a rock star that does nothing but to tell things about his life, the rock star's action of being true about his life is not unethical as long as he is hurting no one. One ethical event in this situation is the act of supporting the rock star as done by the company being endorsed. Being the one who chooses their endorser, it is a good business ethics for a company to take responsibility of any problems that may arise within the company. Such action would show the loyalty and integrity of the company. On the other hand, in the side of the rock star, it is ethical to focus on what he is paid for, which is, to endorse the company. All his actions, while bounded by a business relationship with a company, must be purely business-oriented and nothing personal.

Situation #3

Information is generally a part of many situations in business ethics. Regarding the gathering and release of information, it is always important to ensure that the actions conducted does not place an organization, or an individual, into difficulty. One important aspect of this is to ensure that information must be from reliable and credible sources. In my viewpoint regarding decision-making, should there be information of which I am not sure of the accuracy, it is a good business ethics to leave the information out of decision-making. In this way, the risk to problems can be avoided.

Another instance that relates to information within a business is the emerging of confidential information in the form of rumors. My viewpoint on this is that investigation of the truth about the information is essential.
