Letter of Application for Transfer

The purpose of this letter is to formally request a transfer from the medical school in Puerto Rico where I am currently studying, to a medical school in the tri-state area NY NJ PA. I realize that in order to implement a transfer it will undoubtedly involve a fair amount of administrative effort; however your kind assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated. If it were not that I have a sound conviction that this move is in my best interest, I would not have deemed to put forward this request. Please be assured that I have invested much thought in the matter and have concluded that my decision to pursue my studies in the tri-state area NY NJ PA is a positive one.

I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my conviction regarding my personal philosophy about my chosen profession. Medicine has always been a major part of my life. I have learnt over the years that there are few occupations that provide one with greater rewards and a greater sense of accomplishment than the field of medicine; in addition, medicine offers a wide scope of constantly evolving opportunities to experience the wonders and challenges of life.

Due to the fact that both my parents are medical practitioners my interest in medicine was nurtured from a very young age. From my parents I learned about more than just facts and theories. Their dedication and compassion in dealing with health care and patients had a profound affect on me. I am particularly interested in the field of heath and wellness. My approach to medicine is from a holistic stance in that I believe that all too often the emphasis in medicine is on illness alone and that the larger medical picture is often neglected. I am fascinated by the idea of the human body as a complete and integrated system. I am intrigued by the notion of the human body working at its fullest capacity. My central reason for applying for this transfer is the need to continue this research in an effort to enhance medical knowledge.

Apart from wanting to pursue my studies amongst friends, another major motivating factor to achieve a prompt transfer is that my fiance -- a fellow medical student - and I ended our relationship recently. Thus, it is becoming increasingly complicated to work side by side with her, to the point where it is becoming difficult for me to continue my daily activities. This is obviously creating discord in my studies and research.
