.....graduate student at the prestigious Centre for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Michigan. While there, I was tutored by several professors, all of whom had their distinct teaching styles and methods and this diversity actually helped me. The major feature I loved about them and that I have adopted as a personal teaching style is just how open they were to working with their proteges. I have decided to also create similar chances for my students working with me. I would analyze my work to see if there are certain research subjects I intend to write that my students could work on and benefit from. Apart from the professional interaction, these professors also interacted with me on a personal level. They took me in and introduced me to their families, building a strong rapport between us. Even though it remained a professor-student relationship, we were friends in every sense of the word. My professors didn't have any reservations about combining their professional work and our personal relationships. This has really conditioned my stance about how I would like to relate with my students. I made up my mind that it was quite important to have both scholastic and personal relationships with my students. So now, my opinion on the topic of student relationship is that it's beneficial to be friendly and to promote collaboration. From experience, I have discovered that the school's faculty and its students coming together to discuss just what they expect from each other is a crucial move (Austin, 2012).
I will ensure my students have proper knowledge and reverence for the issue of student variety and that they are well involved and participate regularly in class. I will also make sure my teaching style is comprehensive so that everyone can learn comfortably and without fear. I will equally have high regard for student diversity and make sure everyone's opinion and ideas are respected (UCF, 2014).
In a classroom, the major factor that tells just how efficient a lesson was, how much the students were able to learn and how beneficial this knowledge is to them is the level of creativity the teacher possesses i.e. how they are able to bring theoretical knowledge and real-life situations together in the classroom (Stafford, 2006). I will do my possible best to enhance educational study by backing schemes which grants scholarships to students or provides opportunities for them to do their research on their interested topic.
Ensuring the students' families as well as the community itself is carried along on activities is an important feature of an effective school (O'Brian, 2012). My idea of learning as a teacher is by taking raw people from the community and returning them as highly trained students. We need to let the students know that the community is a testing ground where they are meant to utilize the knowledge and skills that learned in school. Most of the community people are excited at the idea of learning. This is a hugely beneficial situation as the children are imbued with real world knowledge and look up to the community people as their perfect examples while the community members are awed at the children's intellect and skills and are convinced of a brighter future with the children leading them there (Holtschlag, 2010).
Certain teachers always set up their lectures so as to maximize meditation among students and this helps them to understand what they are being taught. I'll teach in a well-structured way so that my students flow along and create meaning of their own from the knowledge I'm imparting. In order to help them meditate better, I will assume a role I have called "facilitator of meaning making." Here, I will serve as the conduit between the student and knowledge and help the student see learning in a productive light. Student's advancement will be constantly checked; I will also create meaning from the new knowledge gained and from the method of learning used and then use this to improve other life aspects and settings. Learning is simply a constant use of the mind in a way that transforms it (Costa & Kallick, 2016).
Educational technology has never been more important in the teaching and learning process as much as it is today. Inventions like the Internet and the several modes of distance learning have amazed teachers and students alike and they can testify to the numerous benefits these possess (Stosic, 2015). I pledge that I will apply all relevant technological teaching aids available to help keep my students in tune with the world and equip them to be able to stand among their mates wherever they find themselves.
Social justice involves identifying and maximizing our authority to bring about improvements in the world. In order to fully impart my students with this idea, I will introduce classroom methods that will pragmatically pass this across. I believe it is a good move to allow students see how improvements are made and just how they could play their own part to make them happen (Dell'Angelo, 2014).
Every educational worker, whatever their roles should strive to be professional at all times. School administrators as well as tutors are the face of their respective schools and should exude professionalism always. What this means is that they should realize that they still represent the school even when next within the premises (Meador, 2015). I pledge that I will conduct myself professionally in my teaching role and I will be a good example to my students.
The emergence of new problems is an indicator that certain educational features should be accorded greater importance. It shows that an individual-based education method which gives a new phase and dimension to learning and makes the process more productive should be encouraged. It has been proved that an effective educational system allows students to know their personal strengths and abilities (Markovic & Markovic, 2012). I pledge to work towards enhancing individuality in my students and to help each one of them develop personally.
Discipline has always been feared by students but these days, it is gradually losing the hold it once had on them. New teachers, in most cases, are brought up to speed on a wide variety of things like student development, lesson notes drafting and student diversity among others all during classes (Walters, 2011). I pledge to draft lesson plans that would enhance discipline and recognition during classes.
There is a special ability that makes a child conscious of his emotions, ideas and behavior. This is coined as self-awareness. Self-awareness however involves more than simple awareness of self rather it also refers to how much a student realizes the effect his actions (which are conditioned by his emotions and ideas) has on himself and those close to him. I pledge to create a high level of self-awareness among my students so that they can maximally exploit the resources available to them.
When backed by appropriate school laws, programs and systems, ethical education is very effective as it aids teachers and students alike in acquiring near-absolute knowledge and consciousness of personal and foreign cultures (Gluchmanova, 2015). As a proud member of this crucial line of work, I give the school authority and the parents my word that I will follow these ethical guidelines as best as I can and I will give my students high quality education that will help them in every succeeding part of their lives.
