Community Health Education Obesity response The aim of every community is to have a healthy society where each individual can carry on with their daily activities with ease and also contribute back to the welfare of the society. was pegged at 34.9% between the years 2011 to 2012 and amazingly this was the same prevalence rates experienced between 2009 and 2010, meaning the prevalence rates did not change (CDC, 2013). This is a worrying trend since the adult risk of developing chronic illnesses and subsequent waste of their life in treatment is a real threat.
This is one of the central motivating factors for my involvement in the pursuit to ensure the reduction in the number of obese adults and in effect result in a more active and productive adult population within the U.S. There is need hence to have a law that prohibits the inclusion of the contents that contribute to obesity in any kind of food and also a need to have well labelled foods and drinks so that the clients can have an informed decision.
Schools, supermarkets, grocery stores are all part of the outlasts that perpetuate the vice of distribution of unhealthy foods hence having a pressure group that will expose and shame brands at whatever level that subject the citizens to un healthy foods will be the first significant step before the law takes effect and this will be a step towards reduction of adult obesity.
Community engagement In as much as research and studies in almost all fields have taken a global dimension, there is need to ensure that the befits and the implementation of the research findings are as localized as possible in order to make an impact and seeable change within the community and among the people who were involved in the research or the program in the first place.
Committees of any institution or any research group needs to ensure that they evaluate their immediate environment and see how well they can format their curriculum or research approaches to make them as profitable to the immediate environment as possible. It would be insignificant if researches are carried out or educational programs are put in place yet they are of no consequence to the people to whom it is taught and the community by extension.
One institution that needs to have ultimate impact on the society through its outreach programs is the health care institutions, be it at the academic level, the healthcare institutions or the research institutions. They need to work in consultation with the community-based organizations or consultants to ensure they have in place programs that will help the people at the grassroots.
