Gourmet Limited Expansion
Our company, Gourmet Limited (GL) deals in various consumables for instance we have the bakery department, meats department, produce section, cheese and dairy section as well as wine section. This gives us a wide coverage in terms of the edibles that may be needed on a daily basis by the clients that visit their stores. It is with the variety that we offer and the customer base that we have in mind that I came up with the idea of expanding the company areas of specializations into Agribusiness.
What is agribusiness?
This is a business concept that has been in operations for a long time now and known to many. According to Business Directory (2012), agribusiness is a business venture whose most if not all of the revenue is derived from agriculture. Most agribusiness will engage in processing, farming, manufacturing, distribution as well as packaging of products.
With the increasing globalization, there is more room to engage in agribusiness for instance in renewable fuels, animal feeds, sugar, flour, fertilizers and oil among other products. Our company cannot miss out on these opportunities presented by globalization.
Why agribusiness for GL
Our company is in a very good position to engage in agribusiness bearing that we are already dealing with some of the agricultural products in large scale. The involvement in diverse ventures requires preliminary experience which we already have and it will be more like extending our product lines.
Our company also enjoys the fact that we can add value to the farm produce and products that we get from the farmers hence increasing the price and consequently the profit margins instead just buying and selling it at a small profit margin as has been the case. The company can do this since we have the processing department and all that needs to be done is increase the capacity.
Bearing the wide network that we have globally, we can be trusted by farmers to access the distant markets hence helping us consolidate a wide market and expand the global network with every successful transaction that we make possible.
We would not be in the market today if we never had a strong research department. This is a good precedence for our expansion as they will come in handy in extending the research to the new agribusiness sectors. We boast of a strong research and development capabilities as compared to other smaller organizations.
Ours is a case of the advantage of having strong and well-known brands all over the world which makes us have an upper hand in agribusiness. We as well boast of a very high quality engineering competence and processing technology. The other strength is the fact that we make an active presence in both the advanced markets and those that are barely developing hence pushing our products to effectively compete with other agribusiness companies within these markets will not be a big challenge.
The other opportunity is the potential within the agriculture market since we will be dealing in a commodity that is the biggest challenge to the entire world-how to feed the people, hence presenting a constant demand for food products
Starting point for agribusiness
The adoption of this business trend will mean dealing in more products and product varieties, there will be an immediate need for space that would be used fro storage, processing, packaging area as well as transport means to the clients as well as sourcing for the products from farms. It is therefore highly advisable that property acquisition is considered in form of a buyout or merger with another company that has necessary infrastructure. There will be the need to buy vehicles to be used as well.
There will also be the need to get into market research and use the Ansoff Matrix to ensure the products do not stay within the stores but find ready market, be it the market where our products are already in circulation or new products.
