Progressivism

Education has played a major part throughout history and according to Jessica Sullivan's and Julie Engeland's "Educational theories," people have had an obsession for the study of the subject. (Sullivan, Engeland, 2008). As being differently perceived by individuals, the science of education was divided into having three theories. The functionalist one primarily refers to "individualism, liberty of rights, self and social esteem" (Sullivan, Engeland, 2008). It is the most beneficial of the theories and it resembles the theory of realism which was promoted by Aristotle.

School Counselors have always had the difficult task of choosing when to divulge their client's confessions. As described in "Student Risk-Taking Behaviors:When Do School Counselors Break Confidentiality?," the counselors should have a limit depending on the dangers that the confession involves. (Michael Moyer, Jeremy Sullivan). As stated by in Tom Davis's "Elementary and Middle Level Counselors' Courtroom Hearing Experiences," counselors have encountered difficulties while working, in spite of the fact that the pupil-counselor relation is only based on the help of the counselor for students in need, with the counselor not having to give long-term therapy.
