Zotero Analysis
Explain which popular software draws comparison because of the common features to Zotero's interface and why you believe this to be true (or not).
Zotero resembles iTunes from a design, graphical interface and usability standpoint as its interface is specifically developed to support drag-and-drop movement of items, and quick classification of digital assets. Like iTunes which is specifically designed for managing digital audit and video assets, Zotero is very adept at handling digital content of all kinds, with the added benefit of being able to generate a bibliography literally in the same research session. This combination of features makes Zotero exceptionally valuable for anyone doing research for academic or professional projects.
What makes Zotero especially valuable for researchers in an academic environment is the ability to traverse the directory structure of storage devices to the left side of the screen. Being able to have multiple research projects going, each with its own taxonomy multiple layers deep, can save hundreds of hours a year in managing research sources. The value of being able to manage multiple projects all within a common window is very similar to iTunes as well. The allegory of being able to create play list in iTunes where the "songs" are valuable research sources would make citations across a semester,-year-long or multi-year project instantly accessible. The right side of the screen shows Info, Notes, Tags, and Related data. This is actually more depth of information than iTunes offers for digital entertainment assets. Each of these data elements can be invaluable in defining further research strategies over the long-term.
2. Properly utilized Zotero to document information from two distinct sources (i.e. website, online article, Google book) and explained the information's relevance.
The meteoric growth of the Apple iPad is nothing short of a disruptive innovation across many industries and is also forcing enterprise software vendors to completely redefine their client software strategies. The streamlined user interface design originally launched on the iPod, further enhanced through the lessons learned from iPhone global success, is today fueling the rapid advances in iPad usability and customer experience (ZDNet, 2011).
