By studying the human genome of a particular patient, the psychologist might be able to predict these behaviors, and begin treatment or medication to alleviate them. In addition, children's genomes could be decoded early in life in an effort to find these problems before they start, and treat them behaviorally so they do not occur. Studying the genomes of known addicts or patients with other behavioral problems could also help researchers find more ways to predict these behaviors and perhaps a way to stop them from occurring someday.

This research has many other health implications as well. It could show that many issues that have always been thought to begin in the mind and the psyche can actually be hereditary, and there is no way to stop them from occurring, only treat them. This may lead to a better understanding of some diseases...

This is valuable information for the psychologist and the therapist, who may end up developing an entire new way of looking at human psychology and how to treat psychological problems. Many problems may be in the mind of the individual, but they may have their origins in the very origins of life.
In addition, since Dr. Venter posts his results and genome online, the research is available for psychologists to study, learn from, and research on their own. Venter's theories may dispel many of Freud's notions of psychosis in the mind, but they also point to how little we really know about the human body and mind. This research opens up entire new worlds of study and theory, and it is sure to lead to new theories and ideas in psychology instruction and understanding, as well.

cheap genomic sequencing has widespread and unforeseen cultural, political, and societal implications that have only just begun to reverberate through the human population at large. Genomic sequencing not only reveals some of the causes and connections behind certain diseases or disorders, but also puts the lie to certain forms of bigotry which assumed that dramatic phenotypic differences represented a similarly dramatic genetic or biological difference (put another way, genome

self-absorption. This becomes a time of self-reflection and if all bodes well a time of increased creativity (Erickson & Erickson, 1997). However, should there be increasing family or financial stress, if there has been problems with their husband or children or they find themselves with looming bankruptcies, the likelihood of depression increases tremendously (Robinson, et.al., 2001) and the maladaptations of overextension and rejectivity (Erickson & Erickson, 1997) can lead

Internet and Democracy In one sense, computers and the Internet are just a continuation of the communications revolution, starting with the printing press then continuing with the telegraph, telephone, motion pictures, radio and television. Could this be leading to a more fundamental change in history on the same level as the agricultural and industrial revolutions? This is a more problematic proposition. Of course, the idea of a post-industrial economy based on

Theories of Etiology (Causes) of the Social Anxiety Disorder Subordination Stress Model Primates depend on establishing social relationships, and like men, laboratory assessments can be conducted to study their behavior. Studies that focused on nonhuman primates in an informal setting concerning dominance and subordination targeted female cynomolgus monkeys. The study established that subordinates dedicated more time living alone where they scanned their social world with fear. This is unlike the dominants who
