Public Health and Patient Empowerment
Andrea must address the increase in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among 15-19-year-old females and Andrea plans to use the CHANGE (Community Health Assessment aNd Group Evaluation) method, which is a structured approach that helps communities identify and prioritize health issues and develop strategies to improve the situation. To effectively address the issue, Andrea should assemble a team of leaders who can contribute varied perspectives and expertise. The team could consist of public health teachers, who can give insights into health education strategies and communication methods and raise awareness about preventing STIs. School Health Coordinators could increase access to educational programs in schools. Healthcare Providers could give clinical perspectives on effective treatment and prevention strategies (Marchand et al., 2020). Community Leaders could help engage local organizations and make sure that interventions are culturally sensitive and community-focused. Youth Representatives could help with seeing to it that the strategies are relevant and appealing to young people. Policy Makers can help with shaping policies that support education and access to health services for adolescents (Jourdan et al., 2021).
The CHANGE method is a community-based participatory tool that involves five main steps: assembling the community team, developing a team strategy, reviewing all five CHANGE sectors, gathering data, and reviewing and prioritizing data collected. This process encourages community involvement and empowers stakeholders to take an active role in public health initiatives (Parker et al., 2020).
