Public school system effectiveness: survey, focus group, and interview analysis
This essay is a continuation of previous research. The research is dedicated to understanding the negative implications of the public school system. The data gathering techniques are discussed in this essay as qualitative and quantitative methods are revealed. Surveys, interviews and focus groups are all discussed as ways to answering the research question.

The data that can be collected in the surveys are both qualitative and quantitative. Some questions that will be included in the survey will be objective in nature and then classified as qualitative data. Such questions include data about grades, economics and finance, demographics and other numerically-based ideas. Qualitative data will also be collected in this survey as well. These questions will include ideas about the strength, practicality and effectiveness of the lessons that are being learned or have been learned in the public school system.
The survey will be administered to random people. The idea of this survey is to gather a public opinion on the overall effectiveness of the public school system. Since, in essence the school system is a public resource, it is imperative that these ideas are known and eventually understood. This information will help guide the research by determining the depth of the problems that the public schools systems are experiencing and the degree that they may need repair.
Data Source 2: Focus Group
Unlike the survey, the focus group will use only leaders in education. Teachers, principles, school board members, athletic directors and all other administrators will be included in this group. The intention of this focus group is to gather qualitative data about their job performance and the performance of education in general. There will be 10 questions asked to this group, and their data will be collected using a 5 Level Likert Scale. Qualitative data in this instance may be converted into some more quantitative forms through the use of statistical analysis and probabilistic manipulation.
The questions in this focus group will help understand how deep and profound the educational system is performing from a top down perspective. This part of the research does narrow its view to the leadership levels of the system. The qualitative data will be incorporated with the other two forms to present a complete picture of the research question and provide guidance on solutions and further research.
