Dream Vacation Project Planning a vacation may not be as easy as one may think. In fact, without proper planning, the vacation may not be a success. One must decide when to travel, where to travel, where to stay, what to see and experience, how much to spend, and so forth. It is actually a process that requires meticulous preparation. This paper provides a plan for a dream vacation in Puerto Rico. The paper particularly pays attention to the schedule, cost, and scope of the vacation.

Time is an important element in vacation planning (Matt, 2013). One must define when to travel and for what period of time. It is not enough for one to just say they are going to Puerto Rico. Saying they are going to Puerto Rico for a certain number of days at a certain time of the year would be more ideal.

For instance, instead of saying "I am going to Puerto Rico," one should say "I am going to Puerto Rico for 5 days in June 2017." Knowing these two aspects is vital for a number of reasons. First, one is able to determine the budget needed for the trip. Often, the longer the duration of the trip, the higher is the budget, and vice versa. A 5-day vacation would certainly not cost the same as a 10-day vacation.

Knowing when to travel is also important for avoiding unfavourable events such as bad weather and political instability, which often influence travel decisions. For instance, a person would naturally be less inclined to travel to a given destination during the cold season or when there is political violence in the destination. One may also want to consider off-peak seasons so as to benefit from lower prices. The trip will be five calendar days long, including the day of departure and the day of return.

Five days are ideal for a vacation in Puerto Rico. One can do a lot in five days. The trip will specifically be made in June 2017. June is one of the best months to visit Puerto Rico (U.S. News, n.d.). This period is preceded by the peak winter season and is succeeded by the rainy summer season. As there is less activity during the season, one can secure great discounts. The period is, therefore, ideal for a budget traveller. Budget is indeed a vital issue in this case.

Cost Cost is perhaps the most crucial aspect of vacation planning (Matt, 2013). Generally, cost or the amount of money available determines aspects such as the time to travel, the duration of the trip, the type of accommodation to be used, means of transport to use, and the places to visit. For instance, a cost-conscious traveller would choose low cost hotels over luxury hotels. They may also choose to travel by road or rail as opposed to air.

The element of cost must be planned properly if the vacation is to be successful. No one wants to acquire unnecessary debt, or worse still run out of money while in a far-away destination or a foreign country. $2,000 is the amount available for the vacation. There are three major cost items to be considered in this case: air ticket, accommodation (together with food), as well as transportation and activity costs. For air travel, it will be important to consider an economy class ticket in a low-cost airline.

The point is getting there, not necessarily how. It will also be important to book the ticket earlier, say one month prior to the date of travel, so as to take advantage of lower rates. Air travel will be allocated $950, which is nearly a half of the total budget. An online search of various flights from Canada to Puerto Rico shows that the amount will be enough to cover a return economy class ticket. The other major cost item is accommodation.

As the focus is a low-cost vacation, it will be important to consider budget hotels, of which there are plenty in Puerto Rico. A quick look at popular online travel guides such as Tripadvisor.com and Trivago.com shows that budget hotels in Puerto Rico range from as low as $95-$130. This will be quite affordable given the available budget. Accommodation will specifically be allocated $500. This will be enough to cover full board accommodation for five days. The last cost aspect relates to transportation and activities.

This aspect is often neglected, but can strain the budget if not adequately planned for. Once one gets to the destination, there are expenses incurred in travelling from one point to another, such as from the airport to the hotel or from the hotel to a tourist attraction. There are also costs incurred in entering tourist attractions such as parks and museums as well as visiting entertainment joints. These costs must be carefully planned for.

$500 will be enough to cover transportation and activity costs for the entire time of the trip. Other miscellaneous items such as airtime will also be included in this amount. Scope Scope in this case denotes the subject matter of the vacation. It refers to the vacation itself -- where to go, where to stay, what to see, what activities to engage in, and so on. These are the things that make the vacation memorable. As mentioned earlier, the dream destination is Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Western hemisphere. The island country offers a host of exciting tourist attractions, including historic buildings, sandy beaches, adventure parks, water sports, rain forests, and boat tours (U.S. News, n.d.). Indeed, choosing what to do when in Puerto Rico can be a daunting task as there are plenty of options.

All the same, the following places will be visited while in Puerto Rico: Fort San Cristobal, Fort El Morro, Museo de Arte Ponce, En Yunque National Forest, Flamenco Beach, Bioluminescent Mosquito Bay, as well as Parque de las Cavernas de Rio Camuy. As can be seen, the choice of places to visit reflects a wide variety of tourist attractions. These include two historical sites, an adventure forest,.
