Training is when you are showing the staff how to trouble shoot, various issues that could occur. Backup systems are designed to create secondary alarms and other fail safes (in the event that one system is not working properly). The oversight for Massachusetts General is the Department of Health and Human Services. The process that they are using to achieve these objectives is: the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety. Like what was stated previously, this is a quality of care survey that all outgoing patients will complete. When there are enough negative reports received, is the point that it has become obvious that the quality of care has...
However, if the level of services can improve or remain the same, it is highlighting increasing safety standards at the facility. What the different government regulators are looking for is to use these surveys, to confirm that a trend is taking place. At which point, they could find outside information to: corroborate and identify specific situations that were positive or negative. This is important, because it shows how the process of oversight is designed to identify, when changes are taking place (surrounding the overall quality of care being provided).
