Although public awareness could be one of the crucial elements of promoting health equity, participation is now an emerging concept that could change how the healthcare industry works. With social participation, the population could be encouraged to take part in healthcare decisions and make their involvement guaranteed for improving their current health status. It would include all aspects of healthcare, such as planning, organizing, operating, controlling, and monitoring afterward.

Social participation would lead to governments making responsive healthcare programs based on Universal Health Coverage principles so that no citizen is left behind (Marshall et al., 2021). It would affect a broad range of stakeholders so that an all-inclusive approach could be facilitated. Civil society must be included in the process now since conceptual clarification with public awareness has been debated for decades but needs a serious implementation worldwide. It would surely impact the quality of life (QoL) and life satisfaction in all age groups, which is the basis for quality health. It could only be conceptualized with the institutionalization of government with participatory health mechanisms within population segments.

Such participation needs to be defined so that effectiveness of involvement can be accurately measured and implemented in healthcare dimensions (Frances & Parra-Casado, 2019). For example, it would have to be defined beforehand who participates and with what intensity. It would reflect the type of information exchanged, the openness of participation, and with whom the information needs to be disseminated for making influencing decisions for the citizens.
