Globalization Is Having an Impact

¶ … globalization is having an impact on the way corporations are competing with one another in the world markets. To help give them some kind of advantage, different theories have been introduced. This is problematic, as shifting viewpoints can create more confusion vs. clarity. To determine the most effective strategies, requires carefully examining three different peer reviewed journal articles. In each one, they will focus on specific ideas that can help firms adjust. This will be accomplished by looking at: the various research methodologies that are relevant to the problem and providing a solution. Once this takes place, is when there will be specific insights as to which strategy is the most effective.

In the first article, Petersen (2011) is raking the different operations management journals using meta-analysis research. This is when actuaries are looking at various studies and comparing them with one another. During this process, is when they will focus on: ensuring that the empirical / qualitative results, relationships and findings are all the same. This will limit the focus of the research to concentrating on the impact of all studies. The solution to this problem is that each form of operations management is based upon certain disciplines (i.e. behavioral science and analytical modeling). This can have effect on the outcome of the study, depending upon the methodology that is being utilized. As a result, the best solution is that the approach and techniques of the researchers should be kept in mind. This will help to keep the findings balanced in comparison with other studies that are examined. (Petersen, 2011, pp. 405 -- 422)

The second article is focusing on Leonidour (2010) talking about the impact of globalization in different marketing efforts (with firms taking more of an international tone in ad campaigns). To help companies identify the best approach more research needs to be conducted in this area. Leonidour is concentrating on analyzing different marketing journals. The basic techniques of actuaries are being utilized through qualitative research. This is when they will analyze different journals to identify the underlying trends. The solution is that this information can be used in future research to identify the strengths and weaknesses for conducting an international marketing campaign. (Leonidour, 2010, pp. 491 -- 518)

In the third article, Friday-Stroud (2007) is discussing the possibility of combining different management theories into one. This is accomplished by focusing on integrating the managerial decision making process and sigma six models into one single strategy. The basic method that was used was conceptual research. This is when actuaries created an 8 step model that could be utilized to develop a theoretical understanding of the challenges facing a firm. However, these ideas have not been tested and will require further study to determine their effectiveness. This solution is providing everyone with a basic foundation for future studies.
