Hypertension Study There are a number of medical maladies and conditions that are ravaging a large swath of the populations of countries like the United States. Among them are diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. The last of those three will be the focus of this report. The PICOT question that shall be posed for this report centers on the reactions and perceptions of those men in their 30's or older that are newly diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Beyond the gravity of such a revelation, the interventions and changes that could be made to diet, lifestyle or drug intake are all on the table and it is presumably a good idea to gauge what is the most attainable and reachable by the patient in partnership with the medical professionals that help them. Problem Statement The problem in question is pretty basic. It is the solution that is rather vexing and hard to implement.

Whether it be diet, stress, heredity or a combination of those things or others, many people have issues with high blood pressure, commonly referred to as hypertension. It has been established that high blood pressure over time leads to additional and protracted health problems such as heart disease, artery blockages, heart attacks and so forth. The root causes of hypertension can vary and are not always completely identifiable. Stress can do it and so can lifestyle-related problems such as obesity, poor diet and alcohol abuse (Mayo, 2017).

Regardless of what the genesis of the hypertension happens to be, there are a range of lifestyle and pharmacological interventions that are put forth to help combat high blood pressure and keep it in check. However, some or all of the interventions require the cooperation and consent of the patient (WebMD, 2017). Much like other conditions such as drug use and mental health disorders, the patient has to be an integral part of the recovery and ongoing maintenance.

If that is not present, the efficacy of any interventions will be blunted, assuming they are not negated entirely. As such, it would be prescient to query and study the responses of people that are subject to those interventions and that have the interventions posed to them. In the case of this study, there will be a focus on males that are at 30 years old that need lifestyle and/or drug-related interventions (Healthline, 2017).

Research Question The research question to be answered in this study is what interventions are appealing and most possible in the perception and opinion of the newly diagnosed males in question. Examples of interventions would include better diet, more exercise and drug/pharmacy interventions such as drugs that help to lower and limit blood pressure levels. With that established, what follows below is the full framework of.
