Scheduling at Red, White, And Blue Fireworks

Develop a staffing plan for RWFBC in accordance with the constraints stated above.

Explain the method used in developing your plan.

The method used in developing my plan was simple. This was done by means of having rotational shifts. Anyone that is scheduled to work does so, and anyone not will not do so at that time of the week. Not only that, but it is also unpretentious to have a set plan, instead of having plans that can change all the time; consequently, frustration levels will rise and people will start becoming tardy and absent. Employees have structure and know when they are scheduled without any issues, and have the capabilities of maintaining the balance of family and work through this process. Furthermore, since one has worked in a number of organizations, he or she has learned ways in which to put it together based off what my mangers have done. One found these quite effective in putting this one together here, which was learned long ago when beginning in the job industry as a teenager (Livestrong, 2011).

3. Explain how employees should be assigned to the different schedules.

One needs to explain how to assign everyone their different work schedules. Managementn can do this in a number of ways. For example, when each person is hired ask them what they are willing to work; however, if they are needing time off, they will have to request it from those in management who do the scheduling. People will have to abide to it or risk not having a position with the company. This may appear strict at first, but it will help to maintain a structured environment for the workers and to make sure that everything runs smoothly (U.S. Office of Personnel Management, 2011).

Management will need to consider having flexible schedules, in case an emergency arises. They can ask additional people to come in an work for those people who are unable to make it and reciever overtime for it. This is an excellent incentive for anyone interested in taking up this opportunity. In the midst of working the ten hour days, workers should have breaks throughout as well due to the possiblity of getting sick. This can hinder anyone from doing their job effectively because of it.

4. Discuss any concerns you have with the new staffing plan.

The biggest concern of all is making sure there is enough staff to keep the business running smoothly on a regular basis. This makes it to where they will have to ask around to keep the company going or to have management fill in themselves. According to Scheduling Software (2011), this is an ongoing conflict. Since this fireworks company is new, this could easily become an issue because of people are not satisfied; consequently, they will choose to make excuses to not show up or to play sick in this process. For a new organization, they may have high expectations that are too unrealistic, and this may deter people for wanting to work for the firm as well (Scheduling Software, 2011).

They will need to consider person-fit with the organization as well. This is because of the person does not fit the company upon hire. When this happens, one does not feel as if they "belong" in the company, and will make every excuse possible to not do their work well. Their attitude may have a means in which to becoming negative quickly, instead of trying to remain positive (Scheduling Software, 2011).
