Google Glass Script Anchor Intro: A technological phenomenon, Google Glass (also known as Project Glass) displays information in a smartphone-like, hands-free format. Self-proclaimed, Manhattan gadget geek Craig Elimeliah, was one of the lucky winners of a lottery that gave participants the opportunity to purchase Google Glass for $1,500 and become one of the first beta testers Host: Google Glass -- perhaps you have seen some people walking around wearing this new technology and wondered what it is.

To provide further information on the subject and -- perhaps to quell some of your fears -- Craig Elimeliah, an early adopter of the new technology, weighs in on the potential of Google Glass to change our lives for the better or worse. Craig Elimeliah: I come from two worlds. I come from the technology world and the start-up world, but I'm also an advertising man through and through…I kinda see things from both lenses. Host: No pun intended.

Craig Elimeliah: As a technology company, Google is looking for ways to capture pure data to be able to create a really holistic and true representation of the way we behave as people in the form of data. Host: Elimeliah weighs in on how Google Glass can accomplish this, based on his experiences. Craig Elimeliah: Glass really was an experiment in, what if we were able to capture data in a more ambient way.

Host: Of course, this raises the question -- is the ability to track our lives constantly -- and the lives of others -- with a smartphone necessarily a good thing? Craig Elimeliah: (laughing): You will never see a picture of me when I first wake up in the morning. Why would I want that to be on the Internet? Host: Glass has its problems. Craig Elimeliah: Glass is nowhere near what it should be.

It's very clunky, you have to touch it, you have to do head motions, you have to turn your head…. Not very comfortable. They're awkward…It's a smart phone on your head. It needs to feel more natural. I don't even like seeing people wearing them. I think it's creepy. I think it's odd. Host: So what is the appeal of Glass? Craig Elimeliah: It's kinda like we've all imaged we had cameras in our eyes.

So we can look at something beautiful and look at it and say wow that's like really beautiful...When I was at Google, everyone wears Glass. Once Google glass becomes readily available and you can walk into a Best Buy and but it for a few hundred bucks. I think the rate of adoption will become exponentially faster. Host: So the concept may have traction, as more and more people adopt to the technology and become accustomed to the sight of people wearing Glass and using.
