¶ … Secure Attachment
There are many attachment styles and they can often influence a person's life by affecting anything from the simplest decision to more complicated and even life changing choices. Thus, it is important to reflect upon one's own attachment style so that one may better understand himself and be successful.
My attachment style as designated by the questionnaire was classified as "secure attachment." According to the test, my attachment style was further classified as follows:
"According to your questionnaire responses, your attachment-related anxiety score is 2.12, on a scale ranging from 1 (low anxiety) to 7 (high anxiety). Your attachment-related avoidance score is 2.92, on a scale ranging from 1 (low avoidance) to 7 (high avoidance)." [1: Not Applicable. (2011). "Attachment Styles and Close Relationships." I think that I was suspecting begin classified as low avoidance because I'm pretty secure in myself, but I did not expect being classified as low anxiety, because I believe I'm a pretty anxious person, especially when it comes to school studies and jobs.
However, having said this, I do agree with the designation of my attachment style, because often I can calm myself down and remember that I am secure with my capabilities. I think that it is also important to comment on how family and culture have influenced my attachment. My family encourages me to do whatever makes me feel happy, so I rarely feel pressured and often rely on my own judgment to make decision in my life. Because I tend to be calm and have low avoidance, I believe I am relatively mature, and this is also due to the family and culture with which I grew up. I believe that having relied on my own capabilities has also helped me in organizing myself from a very young age, and succeeding thus far.
There are other attachment styles, however, including emotions such as preoccupied, dismissing and fearful-avoidant. However, there are many ways to describe attachment. According to the John Bolwby, some other attachment styles are proximity maintenance, safe haven, secure base and separation distress s. Another source describes attachment style with a romantic connotation, such as the first case described above, which has also utilized a questionnaire to describe my attachment style. [2: Cherry, K.
