Respect is important and it goes a long way in building a relationship, especially with a person of another faith. This post makes that point that respect does not necessarily mean agreement -- and that is true, but it is also an important point to remember because we must remember not to commit the sin of human respect. Human respect is good so long as it does not overwhelm the truth -- and if we believe that the Truth is Christ, then even though we respect the person who is Muslim, we must be strong in our faith and show how Christ is the True Way to salvation.

This post also brings up another very good point and that is the power of prayer: "Pray for them." There is a great deal of wisdom in this statement. After all, God alone has the power to convert souls, and if we are going to assist in the conversion of anyone, that assistance must begin with prayer. God listens to prayers and answers them and if we pray with a good heart and live our lives as Gods wills us to live them, then we are already on the fast track to converting other souls of good will.

However, there are always practical concerns one must realize -- such as the fact that one ought to understand the person with whom he is dealing. A better understanding of the Muslim background would go a long way in helping to reach out to such a person. You will have knowledge of that person's world, which will enable you to better know how to sympathize or how to keep from judging. Of course, Scripture says it best: "Judge not, lest ye be judged" (Matthew 7:1).

This post brings up the important part of teaching by example. There is no better way to communicate the awesomeness of Christianity than by good Christian living. The example of Christ should be visible in every Christian's action -- or else he is not worthy of being called a Christian. This thought should lead us to realize that we are hypocrites if we attempt to convert others and yet do not strive to convert ourselves. Therefore our first goal should be to truly convert our own natures to Christ's. This conversion in ourselves will speak more loudly and audibly than any words one could think. Indeed, Christ could convert with a look (as he does with St. Peter, after Peter betrays him and hears the cock crow thrice). We too should be able to convert in just such a way -- through meekness and mildness.
