The car will be a source of pride for its owners, who will enjoy showing their friends their funky, stylish new vehicle that resembles nothing else on the road. Therefore, the Smart Car is made for the maverick creative consumer. However, the Smart Car is also manufactured by one of the world's most renowned and respected automotive manufacturers: Mercedes Benz. Its engineering savvy, its surprisingly spacious interior, and its reliability will also woo traditionalists who simply don't want to drive a bulky, gas guzzling tank. Moreover, the Smart Car will appeal to any budget-conscious consumer: the vehicle receives around 60 mpg and its price tag will range between $12,000 and $20,000 when it hits dealerships (Llanos). I have no recommendations for product adaptations to the two-seater Smart Car. However, I strongly recommend that Daimler-Chrysler introduce the SUV model of the Smart Car because of the American obsession with the SUV. The SUV Smart Car will appeal to Americans who don't want the stigma of driving an SUV but who at the same time need the extra space.
The Smart Car will appeal to all ages and genders but will be best marketed toward well-educated consumers, college students, and persons of a liberal political philosophy.
The Smart Car will not appeal to persons who live in rural areas.
In advertisements, play up the interior space. One of the Smart Car's most astonishing features is its relative roominess compared with its external appearance. Also, the interior of the Smart Car is futuristic and visually appealing.
