She's expressing how freedom feels, how good it feels to finally stand up for oneself and move on in life. This woman has decided to put the past behind her, including this relationship. She has reached her limit with being used and abused by her lover. Anger can be the fuel needed to find the energy for important changes and transformations. She says, "I got my mind back," meaning that she has finally snapped out of the mind-set she has been in (Free pp). The end of the song reads, "I gave you everything you wanted, I gave you everything you needed, But you just didn't do right, So baby I'm leaving, It feels good to be free" (Free pp). This woman has finally regained her self-esteem and has taken the step necessary to take back her life.
