SOP During my senior year in high school, we were asked to write an essay describing our dream job. It was for an English creative writing class, but for me, it was much more than a way to practice eliminating misplaced modifiers. I believe in the powers of visualization and planning, and here was my opportunity to envision working for CISCO. Every successful person I know had a plan. My uncle is one of them.

He had a vision of success that oozed from every pore of his being, and his passion rubbed off on me when he came to visit. My uncle went on to own his own restaurant: something he'd dreamed about for longer than I even knew. Before he opened the restaurant, he developed a comprehensive business plan that covered every single expense and contingency he might encounter.

The writing assignment for my English class demanded no such thing as a business plan, but I used the writing exercise as an opportunity to discuss my plans for the future in minute detail. I pictured myself at the desk of the company I most want to work with: CISCO Systems. There were two reasons why I wanted to work for CISCO above other companies.

The first is that speaker from CISCO had gave a talk at my school the previous year and it inspired me to investigate the potential in studying networking systems. Before then, I had not considered networking as a focus area. After hearing the inspiring speech, though, it was apparent this was a field I could thrive in. CISCO was a world-renowned company I could grow with, and I intend to apply for an internship with them during my graduate studies.

The second reason I want to work for CISCO is their partnerships with organizations like Inveneo, which apply technological advancement to bettering the world. I am committed to matters of social justice and ethics, and will only work for ethical companies like CISCO. After the speaker from CISCO came to my school, I started to research the company as well as their products. I learned more about LANs and switches than I ever knew existed, and it opened a Pandora's Box. My educational journey has continued throughout my undergraduate career.

Every year, my coursework has become more advanced so that I now have a command of basic networking architecture including LAN and WLAN issues. What I like most about networking architecture is that there is a creative component to systems design and problem-solving. We are limited partly by the prevailing protocols and hardware, but each system is different. This means that troubleshooting involves a step-by-step procedure that appeals to the organizational part of my brain.

My undergraduate education has provided me with the foundation with which to pursue a fruitful graduate program of study. When I complete the graduate program of study, I will be able to apply this knowledge to helping organizations develop the safest and most secure networks possible. I intend to devote part of my time helping non-profit organizations and providing small businesses in developing nations a pro-bono type service in order to help improve local economies. I am a caring person with a kind heart, and I love animals.

For the past ten years I have worked in an animal shelter. We rescue street cats and dogs, and perform neutering and spaying on them. It breaks my heart to see animals suffer, because they cannot speak for.
