Bybee's article "Reducing Violence Using Community-Based Advocacy for Women With Abusive Partners" is focused on providing readers with a complex understanding of what causes domestic violence and of how women can be instructed with regard to strategies that they can use with the purpose of preventing their husbands from abusing them. The community-based advocacy intervention discussed in the article dealt with 278 women who were abused by their concubines. Advocates focused on providing women with the information needed for them to understand that their condition is critical and that they have to get actively involved in preventing their husbands from beating them. This article is especially interesting for me because it provides me with the opportunity to see things from the perspective of someone who is actually familiar with the tools that he or she can use with the purpose of assisting women who suffered abuse and with the purpose of providing them with the important knowledge that they need in order to avoid falling victim to domestic violence.
The masses have to understand that abused women are everywhere and that this is not a topic that can simply be ignored. These women are an active part of society and the social order can thus be considered to be sick as a consequence…
