Statistical Research In Order To Measure A Research Paper

¶ … Statistical Research In order to measure a given construct, the numerical data provided by the study's survey period is sorted to determine a baseline level. By determining the mean, median and mode from the various respondents, this baseline can be used to operationalize a particular construct. The Mean is defined as the mathematical average derived from a set of numerical figures, or the sum of every number in a given set divided by the number of figures comprising that sum. The concept of mean can be visualized as the "balance point" of any given distribution of numerical figures, and envisioning mean in this fashion is premised in basic physics, because if a basic data distribution were to appear fulcrum, the mean would be the point where perfect balance is achieved. Experienced statisticians incorporate mean within their analysis for several fundamental purposes, and "of all the measures of central...

The Mode is merely the most frequently occurring numerical figure within a given distribution set, and "the mode is the only useful measure of central tendency when a variable is measured on a nominal scale. " (Keele, 2010). Because the mode represents the figure within a set that occurs with the most frequency, the mode is widely considered to be the probability center of a distribution, and if one were to randomly select a single figure from any distribution, the modal value is statistically expected to be observed at higher rate. The Median is defined as the numerical figure within a distribution that represents the middle of center, as determined when each of the values in set have been ordered in ascending order from…

Statistical Research II Measuring a Given Construct
Words: 675 Length: 2 Document Type: Research Paper

Statistical Research II Measuring a given construct within a statistical study is done by sorting the numerical data obtained during the study's administration of surveys and/or questionnaires to identify the baseline reference point. Calculating the mean, median and mode of the various data points gathered during the survey period, the data set's baseline is then utilized to quantify various constructs within the study's purview. When one refers to the Mean,

Another statistical measure that should be implemented is the use of statistical techniques to measure the side effects of certain drugs and medications given to patients. Possibly one of the most important statistical aspects that should be applied to modern nursing is the creation of clinical pathways in hospitals. The development of clinical pathways are related to "…attempts to reduce hospital utilization" and "cost-containment initiatives" ( Lagoe, 1998) There are

The Type 1 error refers to rejecting the null hypothesis when it is true. The Type 2 error is when one rejects the alternative hypothesis even though it is true. 3. Parametric and non-parametric tests Parametric tests usually deal with samples that have a normal distribution and that are measured with means and standard deviations. T-tests and ANOVA are examples of this comparing one group against another. The Pearson would be

Violence in the community was operationalized from various files. The interater reliability of low, moderate, or high violence risks showed acceptable significant results as to correspondence. The final risk judgment were not only significantly predictive of community violence after release, but effect size too showed moderate to large results indicating that the study was not only significant but also weighty and therefore its results were worthy of consideration. Researchers therefore
