"Stagnant Wages, High Unemployment Slam Wal-Mart U.S. Sales: Domestic Sales at World's Largest Retailer Post Two-Year Slump." (5/17/2011). (MSN n.p.)

Impact and Reason

In my own opinion, the news item above will bring about a decrease in the price of Wal-Mart's Store Stock. My reasoning in this case is that based on a decline in sales, investors will not be so keen on buying the stock hence effectively decreasing its demand. Decease in demand will depress the share price of the stock.

"Wal-Mart has First U.S. sales Rise in Two Years." (Oct 12th 2011). (Rappeport, n.p.)

Impact and Reason

In my own opinion, the news item above will bring about an increase in the price of the Wal-Mart's stock. In this case, investors will demand more of the stock as there is more to be gained going forward inform of dividends or otherwise should the company continue its profitability streak.

Headline 3

"Wal-Mart's Quiet Tax Haven." (Sept 23rd 2011). (LaRocco)

Impact and Reason

In my view, this news item is bound to bring about an increase in the price of Wal-Mart's stock. This is as investors come to the retaliation that Wal-Mart is making more savings (and hence more profits) from tax avoidance than its competitors.

Part 10

From its website, I learnt that Mike Duke, the retailer's president uses the Website as a platform to communicate with visitors through the header...

...

Secondly, I learnt that the retailer has a global reach and lastly; I learnt that the firm is quite active on the corporate social responsibility (CSR) front.
Part 11

As per data made available by Yahoo Finance, Wal-Mart's 52-week high is given as 57.90. On the other hand, the company's 52-week low is given as 48.31 (n.p.). See attached document for chart. If I had invested in the stock 10 years ago (purchasing 100 shares at the time), I would have incurred a loss of $13.75 for that particular period of time. In the year 2000, the company's stock was trading at $70. This is in comparison to today's price of $56.25.

Part 12

In regard to job openings, Wal-Mart currently does not have any positions open for application.

Part 13

Based on the information I now possess about the company, I would most definitely invest in the Wal-Mart's stock based on company's improved profitability in the recent past and market dominance.
