Now a man and woman have joined the group. They are a bit younger looking than my parents are. They look distressed. They both look sad. But it's more than sadness.
My arm is aching again. I wish the bunny with the giant eye dropper would come back. Whatever it was that he sprayed on me, was so cool and refreshing, and most importantly it made the pain stop. It made me not care if there was a storm outside or not. Actually, it made me forget about the storm. The storm. I'd almost forgotten. Is that how this whole thing started? The storm, and the trees thrashing, and the lights. Oh yeah! I had forgotten about the lights. Not the lightning. Some other kind of lights.
Blinding lights. Like the snow blizzard.
Why won't someone come in here and help me. I don't understand. I can see them outside the window. They are just standing there. Engrossed in some sort of conversation. Oh! The woman is looking this way. She looks so sad. No. She looks more than sad. She looks hopeless.
How can so many people be so close by and no one is bothering to help me. Don't they realize how much pain I'm in? Don't they realize that I need the bunny with the giant eye dropper?
Where is he? Where did he go? He was just here a moment ago, but now he has disappeared. Even the top of his head is out of view.
Here they come. The bunnies are back. But I don't see the giant eye dropper. My arm is throbbing....
Oh, I can see my mother bending over me again. My father is standing behind her, peeking over her shoulder. She is mumbling something. I see her lips moving, but the sound is muffled like the sound of someone speaking into a tube stuffed with cotton. She's smiling. She looks so peaceful. I know that if my mother knew how badly my arm ached she would make someone stop the pain. She would never let me suffer like this. She never allowed me to suffer.
My arm is still throbbing, but not so much now. It's a different kind of pain now. It still hurts and I still cannot move it, but something has changed. Maybe the bunny came back while I was sleeping and sprayed it again. The light has changed. No one is around. The light outside the window is gone, or maybe someone has drawn the blinds again. Anyway, it's darker. And it's quiet. Oh, so quiet. All I can hear is a humming noise. A droning sound.
A remember. The storm and the lights. I was driving. The trees were thrashing in the wind. There was a flash of lightning. No! Electrical wires were dancing on the road. Bright lights were aimed directly at me, they blinded me. Then the pain. It was a head-on collision. That's what happened. Now I remember.
A barely feel the pain now. Someone has scooped me up! I feel like a ball. He is carrying me somewhere. He must be a giant! How else could he carry me in one hand. I feel no pain now. There is total darkness.
