I enjoy reading your discussion on supply chain complexity and mirror many of your sentiments. For one, as we are currently realizing, supplies chains are not only complex, but are subject to material disruptions. E-commerce companies are particularly vulnerable as they rely heavily on supply chains to deliver a value proposition to their customers. This include efficiency and accuracy. You example with Shein, indicates how complex supply chains have become due in part to globalization as growing consumer demand. Your post indirectly mentions data analytics as well. The company you mentioned uses vast amount of data to track orders and maintain efficiencies with its orders. Data analytics will help to enhance the overall value proposition on online retailers as they are better able to control mission critical elements within the supply chain through leveraging data (Jacobs, 2020).

I agree with your assessment of complexity and divergence and how it is growing in nature. Your example of Apple is also very compelling given the overall size and scope of the company. With Apple, as a consumer electronics company, it is very dependent on suppliers to help deliver excellent service related to its electronic components. This is heavily contingent on supply chains as a delay in a crucial component can hinder other operations in the supply chain. As Apple continues its international expansion it is also critical for it to streamline and use data analytics to makes it supply chain more simplified (Jacobs, 2020).
