This study provides a systematic literature review regarding the link between Supply Chain Integration (SCI) and firm performance and how this relationship shows inconsistency in the results. The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between SCI and firm performance based on existing literature. Through the review, the researcher demonstrates how some studies show a direct link between SCI and firm performance while other shows no significant relationship.

These researchers utilize a meta-analytic approach to conduct a quantitative review of empirical literature on supply chain integration in relation to relevant design and contextual factors. The researchers demonstrate how supply chain activities have become more dispersed among customers, suppliers and service providers. This has in turn contributed to an enhanced need for customers and suppliers to work collaboratively more often. In order to achieve their objective, the authors have utilized 80 independent samples from 86 peer-reviewed journal articles that generated nearly 17,467 observations that were analyzed. They helped clarify mixed findings that exist regarding supply chain integration even though there is evidence on the positive impact of SCI on firm performance.
