¶ … Sustainable Future Selfless Actions and a Sustainable Future There are many ways in which a person can get involved in selfless actions that can help the planet. One of these is to take public transportation (or carpool) instead of driving. There are certainly people who live in places where they cannot do this, or who have the types of jobs where this simply would not be realistic.

However, for the most part people who live in urban areas are capable of using public transportation in their daily lives or carpooling with others on their way to work or other types of activities, including shopping. This helps the planet because it reduces the number of cars on the road. In turn, that reduces the level of emissions being placed into the air. With healthier air, not only can human beings breathe better but so can plants and animals.

The entire ecosystem is helped along when people perform selfless acts that help the planet. However, one of the main problems with doing this is that people are not likely to perform this type of selfless act unless they are forced to do so. It is inconvenient to them, so they will choose not to do it. That is one of the reasons that the government steps in and mandates specific things that everyone must do that will help the planet.

Many of these mandates are enforced by state and local governments, but there are also federal government requirements that have been enacted, such as the ban on smoking in public buildings and businesses. This is a matter of human health, but it is also a way to help the planet. Smoking adds to the air pollution the planet has to endure, and air pollution can result in greenhouse gases and climate change.

While smoking may seem like a small thing, it actually provides a great deal of pollution that could otherwise be avoided. Because of the value of smoking bans to humans and the planet, they are mandated and enforced by the government. As for whether chosen selflessness or government-imposed selflessness is better, there is an argument that can be made for either side. When people are selfless all on their own, they are selfless because something matters to them.

They take these things seriously, and they understand that they can really make a difference by modifying their behavior in a way that helps the planet. Because they see the value in doing things for the planet, and they see how it will help others around them, they make choices that may not be the most "fun" for them, but that offer help and hope to the collective society.

By doing that, they are able to focus on everyone around them and how society at large will benefit from something, instead of only paying attention to themselves and what they might want and need from their lives. When a person acts selflessly, he or she does so without regard to personal happiness. Instead, the happiness of others is found to be more important. However, some types of selflessness are not actually selflessness, but rather a forced way of acting because of rules enacted by the government.

When a person is forced to act in a manner that can be considered selfless, those actions have far less meaning. More may get accomplished from a societal standpoint because more people.
