Promoting health, safety, and responsible ownership is an important aspect towards developing a safe society in Texas that is free from gun violence and irresponsible use of firearms. Similar to other businesses that have been established to generate revenue, Big Boy Gunz is not only in business to ensure growth in revenue but also ensure sustainability is an important element across all operations. We have developed a sound business structure and created various strategies towards ensuring health, safety, and responsible ownership of guns/firearms.

According to the American Firearm Retailers Association (2013), gun and firearm retailers have a role in promoting health, safety, and responsible ownership because these are crucial elements towards keeping communities healthy and safe. Keeping communities healthy and safe is crucial because the presence of guns and firearms in the society, especially the home setting, enhances the risk of gun-related crimes that endanger people's lives.

5.3.1 Promote Health

The risk factors that contribute to public health issues relating to gun ownership and use include an individual's history of violent crimes and alcohol and drug abuse. Big Boy Gunz will limit the sale of firearms and guns to individuals with these risk factors as well as those with mental health histories. Federal laws and Texas' laws on gun ownership and dealership will be utilized as the premise for determining individuals who will be restricted from purchasing guns from this shop. To this extent, Big Boy Gunz undertakes to conduct a comprehensive background check of an individual, especially those that are deemed or suspected to be dangerous based on these risk factors.

Big Boy Gunz will also provide education and training for individuals on proper storage of firearms, which is an important aspect for lessening public health dangers associated with gun ownership and usage. In this case, customers will be provided with educational materials like pamphlets and brochures with clear explanations on how to store the specific firearm in a proper manner and prevent unprecedented injuries and deaths. Additionally, customers will receive training and education on how to handle the guns, how to shoot safely, and self-protection. The shop will identify a suitable place and experienced professionals to conduct the training as a means of promoting health.

The training will also involve educating people on regulations regarding the legal use of guns/firearms and safe methods for transporting them. They will also be educated on how to keep these firearms out of prohibited or dangerous hands in order to prevent the likelihood of gun-related accidents and crimes.

This gun shop will design safety standards package for gun ownership and use, which will be given to customers upon purchase. Based on existing state laws, guns are required to include specific safety features that ensure structural integrity and prevent malfunctioning or misfiring of the firearm (American Firearm Retailers Association, 2013). The design safety standards package will contain information regarding the firearm's safety features and measures undertaken by its manufacturer to ensure structural integrity. Big Boy Gunz will also keep perfect records of gun acquisitions and dispositions, which will be audited by the American Firearm Retailers Association regularly and in compliance with relevant laws.
