Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III Results:

The client was administered the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) to assist with the diagnostic formulation. The client produced a valid profile. There was no evidence that he attempted to present himself in an overly positive manner, to portray himself as being extremely or excessively distressed (the classic "cry for help" profile), nor was he overly guarded or defensive in his approach to answering questions (Hsu, 2002).

The client did not produce evidence that he suffers from a severe characterological disorder; however, there was evidence of significant distress. The client's pattern of responses indicates that he is pessimistic, overly serious, gloomy, passive, and preoccupied with negative events. He harbors very low feelings of self-esteem and while he may be perceived as a responsible and consciousness person, he experiences significant feelings of self-criticism and can be very self -reproaching. Individuals with similar profiles often look down on themselves, actively seek to explain the happenings in their lives in negative terms, and often assume a self-defeatist attitude regarding their ability to make positive changes in their lives (Millon, Millon, Meagher, Grossman, & Ramnath, 2012).

Individuals with similar profiles are also so concerned with the negative aspects of their experiences that they will find fault with even the most positive experiences that they have. They may appear to others as being "down" most of the time and their depressive demeanor often results in others feeling guilty; however, interestingly these individuals are also often overly dependent on the opinions of others to provide them with acceptance and support. Such individuals often have difficulty directly expressing anger or aggression and often displace it upon themselves. This can lead to a number of somatic complaints. While their demeanor is one of being defeatist and dejected, they often do not consider themselves depressed. While they often look to others for support and acceptance, they also often rejoice in the failures of others and rarely, if ever, celebrate the successes or accomplishments of others except on a very superficial level in order to maintain appearances. Such individuals are internally cold, hostile (but with a tendency towards displacing their anger/aggression on themselves), can be passive/aggressive, irritable, and critical (Millon et al., 2012).
