Nowadays most people are so busy with their jobs and careers and families and schooling that they just don’t have a lot of time to spend on routine maintenance. There are many hobbies: cooking, traveling, reading, playing piano—but exercising is actually one of the most beneficial hobbies that one can have because it actually takes care of the maintenance side of life while simultaneously giving one a break from life’s work and stress.
Working out gives one an opportunity to exercise in a number of different ways. There is always the gym where one can go to use a variety of exercise equipment—from treadmills to free weights. No matter where one turns, there is the opportunity in a gym to work up a sweat and get the heart pumping. This helps to improve circulation, heart health and mental health (Warburton et al., 2006). It also lets one check out for a while and burn off some of the worries and negative feelings that can accumulate throughout the day (Fostering Resilience, n.d.).
