Internal and Administrative Issues at Social Security Administration
Social Security Administration is an independent constitutional body that was formed to take care of the social welfare of the American workers. This body was meant to collect funds in the form of savings from all the workers and reimburse once they retire. The use of this method of social welfare management is important because it stabilizes the operations of an organization. It is common knowledge that once people retire, they cannot meaningfully engage in any economic activity. This is likely to put them in some danger of inability to fend for themselves (Art Works for America, 2013). Trustees on behalf of all the employees manage the fund. In every sense, the presence of such bodies in a country spells out some hope for the workers during retirement.
The 'dissatisfier' concept
The dissatisfier concept is an assertion holding the belief that some factors inhibit the course of management. These are also referred to as hygiene factors. They have the potential make the workers feel disgusted or dissatisfied with management. In particular, these factors include salaries, the supervision from management, relationship with boss, relationship with peers, and company policy. On the part of the salaries, if the amounts given are not satisfactory, employees are likely to turn to the managers. Loyalty also goes down, and this has the disadvantage of bringing in low yields in production. Besides, if the employees are not well taken care of through proper supervision, there will a likely pursuit of unnecessary activities. This will end up diverting the useful energy into unwanted fields within the organization. The workers' relationship with and the supervisors is important in bringing in harmony at the workplace (Kessler & Kelley, 2000). If the relationship is severed for one reason or the other, there will be a likely backlash from the workers. They will most likely have an unnecessary rebellion, which could have been avoided. What determines this relationship is the way in which the managers conduct themselves.
At the Social Security Administration, the presence of these dissatisfiers cannot be overruled. In several instances, the managers at this body have been noted to be treating the workers harshly. This has led to the development of bad blood among them. In some instances, the situation has gotten worse to the point where most of the workers have found it hard to bear. Picketing and go-slows have been witnessed from employees protesting against the ill-treatment from rogue managers (Art Works for America, 2013). The salaries paid to workers in this union also fail to convince the workers to stay on the job. In some instances, some employees have had to leave the job for some other lucrative work. The salary also fails to recognize other extra qualities of employees such as experience and talents. The fact that the organization has been using a fixed salary regime for most of its workers means that those who feel that they are not much appreciated have ended up quitting. Evidently, the organization has failed to acknowledge good industry practice in its operations and has consequently had to suffer the consequences. Such challenges have become impediments o the realization of various strategies sets by the management as it seeks to better the lives of the retirees and their families (Kessler & Kelley, 2000).
