Environmentalist
From the very beginning of my educational career, I wanted to reach the heights of education in the field of my interest. As it is the goal of every professional to be competent in their field of choice, my ultimate aim is not only to get the highest degree of education in environment but to become a competent professional so that I can contribute to this field as well as to the society for the benefit of the general population. Therefore, I want to do my research in a subject that would directly benefit the people and something that the world is in dire need of. As we all know, the environment needs to be preserved if we want, not only our lives to be balanced, but also to guarantee that the planet remains safe and healthy for our future generations and I wish to perform my part in ensuring that as responsibly as possible.
I do believe that technological advances have made us highly dependent upon machines and computers and because of this, I wish to share and improve my knowledge and skills related to information and technology and use them as a guide and a tool to work for the betterment of the global society as a whole. Thus, earning a doctorate degree in Environment seems to be the most fitting path for me to choose.
I am interested in completing a doctorate degree in the field of IT so that I can make some substantial contribution to the society when I pursue my career as a professional environmentalist. Although, there is no direct relationship between my profession and the subject in which I want to carry out my research but I have made the decision of doing my research in IT because technology has now become the foundation of every successful profession and only through my thorough knowledge in IT and its application in my profession is what can make a competent professional once I complete my research and doctorate degree.
After my completing my research, when I will be working as an environmentalist, I will be facing the conscience efforts that are being made to make the life of the people as well as the mother Earth green. I will be making my contribution in making the world a cleaner place at many different levels and would have to target different parts of the society. I will be working with different multi-national companies, organizations that are governed by the government and the organizations that are non-governmentally governed as well as individuals. My primary objective in my professional career would be to help the aforementioned parts of the society in making the right choices and decisions pertaining to the environment. Apart from this I would also be preparing and helping companies and organizations prepare reports about the hazardous accidents that are caused because of environmental reasons. Another important aspect of my profession would be to provide scientific evidence of the new laws and regulations that are issued regarding the environment. To fulfill all these objectives, it is important for me to be aware of the latest advances that are going around me and therefore doing my research in the field of IT can help me greatly achieve my goals.
As an environmentalist, I might have a full day when I would be busy raising funds for the betterment of the environment, campaigning, carrying out and composing press releases, lobbying, preparing lectures on the environmental issues that need to be addressed, writing and compiling reports and articles as well as carrying out researches on different subjects. Another point that is worthy of mentioning here is that there are many different types of environmentalists. There are some that only conduct studies and researches on various subjects, then there are some who are mainly involved in lobbying, some of them are only office workers. Moreover, some of the environmentalists end up becoming environment scientists and there are others who become computer analysts. Other types of environmentalists whose contributions are required by the environment include engineers, conservationists, lab workers and inspectors. As I wish to become either a computer analysts or a lab worker, it is important for me to complete my research in a subject that has something to do with the technology.
There are many factors that need to be addressed and worked upon if one has to become a successful environmentalist. It is important for an environmentalist to know the issues that have plagued his or her environment as well as to have the ability to identify the factors that could be replenishing for the environments such as degradation, conservation and recycling. Although I could also complete my research in subjects like economics, environmental science, psychology or political science, I have chosen the area of IT because it would help me be well aware of the factors that surround the environment.
Since I have a background in sciences as I have complete my high school, college and my master's degree in science subjects, a research in IT would be very beneficial for me as I would be able to manage my work as an environmentalist when I will have to work as an environmental scientist. Moreover, I will also have to get training in laboratory procedures and scientific reporting that includes tasks like taking samples and charting.
