WORLDVIEW REFLECTION PAPER

Worldview Reflection Paper

My current worldview is based on theism whereby I believe that God exists and life would not have meaning if we did not believe in Him. The fact that God exists makes me believe in what He says in His word which is the Bible. From a biblical perspective, I believe that I was created by God and everything that is in this world was created by Him (Col 1:16). Given that God is the creator of everything, I therefore believe that I was created by God and that God created me in his own image to fulfil the purpose that he has called me to accomplish. Essentially, God desires that I love others and relate well with them since they were also created in his image. Reading God’s word helps me distinguish what is good from what is wrong which helps me live a morally upright life. Since I believe in the word of God and do what is right, I believe that when I die, I will spend the rest of my life in heaven with Him.

There are various ways through which my Christian worldview compares to the Christian worldview of others as presented by Ben Get Terrorists and Dr. Lou Bladder - whereby we both hold the belief that Christ gives meaning to life. For this reason, we both believe that God created us in His own image whereby He created us male and female. Since God created us in his own image, we are unique human beings that ought to take care of what God created. This is more so the case given that as God created us in His own image, he also gives value to our life which makes us perceive our purpose in life. In essence, God created us in his own image so that we may know him and have a personal relationship with other people. In addition, like Ben and Bladder Christian world view, looking back at the word of God helps us determine what is wrong and what is right. For this reason, reading the word of God provides us with knowledge on how we should act and how we should treat others. In this case, God expects us to treat others with respect and dignity. Further my Christian world view on my destiny also relates with that of others in the video. In essence, we both hold the belief that there is life after death which is eternal life. Just like others, I believe that God loved us so much that he gave his only son to die for us, so that we can have eternal life (John 3:1.6).

From my current Christian worldview, I believe that health should be defined in value that makes us treat others with respect and dignity. According to Cuellar and Robinson (2017), health should be a form of charity that Jesus commanded to all those who follow him. Therefore, since Christians are followers of Jesus, they should live and accomplish his mission as per his teachings. Essentially, all followers of Christ should do what Matt 25: 35-40 says - that we should give food to the hungry and give drinks to the thirsty since we would be doing it to Christ. In the same way, people who seek health compare to what Christ refers to as the hungry and the thirsty. Therefore, health includes taking care of everyone including strangers, i.e. by providing health services to them. There are various ways through which the said health services can be provided from a Christian worldview. Knowles (n. d) avails different services that can be provided in health from the said perspective which are inclusive of, but they are not limited to; giving new allegiance, nursing, developing world missions, helping the poor, patient care, and clinical medicine. In developing world missions, we would be fulfilling what God ordered us to do, i.e. to go into the world and make followers (Matt 28:19).
