Importance of HB Model and TRA Model

The medical science takes into account medical history and reports to treat a person. Social and psychological theories on the other hand explain how social and psychological factors can affect behavior. In discussing depression among minority, the models can help find how the depression is caused, how it can be treated and what behaviors favor or hinder the treatment. Depression is such a disease that it can affect the body, behavior and life of an individual. About 19 million Americans are falling into depression and that makes them vulnerable to mental illness. The theories can help identify which set of beliefs and behaviors will support the treatment.

Depression

Depression is caused by a variety of factors. It can arise from cognitive problems like negative thinking or biological and genetic factors, gender orientation, the responsibility status of family, drugs and medications, prolonged diseases etc. Some people might not have any apparent reason for depression. The clinical depression is treatable. It can be identified by selecting the population i.e. African-Americans and then analyzing their moods, weight, appetite, physical symptoms, irritability, restlessness, fatigue, decision making problems etc. It is found that black minority men, the African-American blacks, have high levels of depression (Louis, Graham, Robert, Aronson, Tracy, Charles, Stephens, and Scott, 2011).

Depression in Minority Men African-Americans

Being minority often raises prejudice and racial hatred among people. A research by Louis et al. (2011) suggests that Black sexual minority men can have more depression than their Black female and white minority counterparts. The factors causing psychosocial health of African-Americans are not known fully. However, it is proved that ethnic orientation has a considerable impact on the depression. Since in original African families, the men are supposed to be the bread winners, men have more responsibilities (Depression and African-Americans, 2013). They are expected to feed family hence this responsibility combined with the work place discrimination can cause more depression in them. Other factors...

...

The research discusses how sexual orientation particularly causes depression among minority African-American men.
The belief of the minority people is negatively affected by the social discriminatory practices. They have less belief they will get jobs, justice and fairness and hence they are less likely to have motivation to perform. This leads to low performance and productivity and finally causes depression. TRA explains that black male African-Americans will have less intention to perform and this will be caused by low subjective norms and attitude towards excellence.

Conclusion

Depression among the black male African-Americans can be explained using the health belief model and theory of reasoned action. The theories suggest why depression can be caused and how belief on one hand and behavioral intention on the other, develop depression among people. The theories do not only explain problem but also find out ways in which these problems can be solved. Adopting positive thinking helps solve many depression related problems.

The question then becomes do these nurses become worried about the long hours that they may have to work and the quality of care that the patients are getting, or do they sit back and remind the world that they knew this was going to happen, because pay has traditionally been low for nurses and this is why more people are choosing other fields of study when looking for

The heated nature of the current political debate in the United States upon the subject of healthcare is testimony to the idea that far less than economic numbers, cultural wars govern how healthcare is perceived and administrated. All nations face the problem of cost containment of an increasingly expensive healthcare system. People are living longer, and the nations of the developed world have populations with a far higher median age
