¶ … Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas, is a book about the young hero, D'Artagnan, who meets up with the three Musketeers and insults all of them. They meet for a duel and all three of the musketeers were not aware that they were all fighting the same man. When the Cardinal's guards try to arrest them, D'Artagnan fights on the side of the musketeers and becomes their friend instead of their enemy. This begins their journey through France and England with adventures along the way.

The year is 1625 and the place it begins is Paris. The main theme of this book is honor and courage. The main characters in "The Three Musketeers" are D'Artagnan and the three Musketeers, who are Aramis, Porthos and Athos. There are other characters in the book that are important to the plot. These characters are King Louis XIII, Queen Anne, Cardinal Richelieu, Lord and Lady de Winter (Milady), Monsieur and Madame Bonacieux, Monsieur de Treville, Kitty and the Duke of Buckingham.

D'Artagnan and the three Musketeers, Aramis, Porthos and Athos, set out to find D'Artagnan's landlord's wife, who has been kidnapped. Cardinal Richelieu has a plan to expose the Queen's affair with the Duke of Buckingham. The Cardinal makes D'Artagnan a Musketeer after he and the three Musketeers defend the St. Gervais fort and the four of them warn Lord de Winter and the Queen of the dangers that are coming their way. Lord Buckingham is killed, as is Madame Bonacieux, whom D'Artagnan is very.
